Melanie Noel is the author of The Monarchs (Stockport Flats) and a Ringing (Goodmorning Menagerie), written in Ménerbes, France, during a residency at the Dora Maar House. Her poems have appeared in Spiral Orb, La Norda Especialo, The Seattle Review of Books, GUEST, Thermos, Weekday, and THE ARCADIA PROJECT. She's also written for performance, short films, and installations, and co-curated APOSTROPHE, a dance, music, and poetry series, with musician Gust Burns and dancers Michèle Steinwald and Beth Graczyk, and curated IMPALA, a reading series that took place in her grandmother's car. Melanie's poem "A Boneless Bird" appears as the text for Hanna Benn's 2018 song "Unfasten." As Redmond's Poet Laureate, Melanie collaborated with designer Kate Widdows on "River Aviary Culvert," a poem and poster on the gesture of the wave. She is an editor based in Seattle, and sometimes teaches experiential workshops meant to invoke synesthesia.
