Melanie Noel is the author of The Monarchs (Stockport Flats) and a Ringing (Goodmorning Menagerie), written in Ménerbes, France, during a residency at the Dora Maar House. Her poems have appeared in Spiral Orb, La Norda Specialo, The Seattle Review of Books, GUEST, Thermos, Weekday and THE ARCADIA PROJECT. She's created poems for sound and art installations, among them Felt, with Gust Burns, and Matthew Offenbacher's The Lion Side of Under the Porch. Her first solo installation, Try Me, a Swanful, was exhibited at the Alice Gallery in November 2016. She co-curated APOSTROPHE, a dance, music, and poetry series, and curated IMPALA, a reading series that took place in her grandmother's car. Melanie's poem "A Boneless Bird" appears as lyrics for Hanna Benn's 2018 song "Unfasten." As Redmond's Poet Laureate, Melanie collaborated with designer Kate Widdows on ABOVE/INSIDE: a wave occurs at the edge or surface, a project exploring the gesture of the wave. She is an editor based in Seattle, and sometimes teaches experiential workshops meant to invoke synesthesia.
